1) QUESTION:   What is the purpose is the American Legion Child Welfare Program?

ANSWER: Our number 1 purpose is to provide other nonprofit organizations with a means to educate the public about the needs of children across this nation.

2) QUESTION: How will the money donated to Child Welfare get used and to whom?

ANSWER:   We accept proposals from nonprofit organizations for projects which meet one of the Foundation’s two basic purposes:
1.    To contribute to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual welfare of children through the dissemination of knowledge about new and innovative organizations and/or their programs designed to benefit youth; and
2.    To contribute to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual welfare of children through the dissemination of knowledge already possessed by well-established organizations, to the end that such information can be more adequately used by society.

3) QUESTION:   How much of the Donation actually is used for the Grants?

ANSWER: 100 percent of your contribution goes to helping children. The American Legion generously takes care of our overhead costs. As a result, all of the money donated is entered into the Trust Fund to be used for grants. Few, if any, other foundations can make this claim.

4) QUESTION:   Will my donation be Tax deductible?

ANSWER: Yes, All contributions are tax deductible. Every gift received is acknowledged by official receipt. Accurate records are kept according to state, organization and donor. All cash contributions are acknowledged regardless of the amount.
